There are various great women in history.They are referred with that term since they were black women born in The United States of America. They story of African American women in history is recorded in books of history due to their great achievements and contributions to economy or life of other people.
Our first focus on these great persons brings our attention to Mae . C. Jemison a trained medical practitioner who helped many patients in her service.she was armed with other great skills as an engineer and a surgeon. This led to her being hired to work in the space team and she flew on space shuttle endeavor STS -47. J. Thus became the first Africa American woman in history to go to space.this thereafter inspired many other people to rise to the challenge.
Talking of other strong persons in our topic, Goode, Sarah S was well known business woman and inventor.she invented life changing inventions which really became helpful to a lot of American citizens.One of this inventions was the folding cabinet bed.This invention was used as a desk and provided stationery and writing platform. Goode. Sarah. S owned a big furniture store that helped many in Chicago . In her life she made another great invention which was a bed which was suitable for small apartments.
In February 1936 Barbara was born and lived up to to the year 1996.in her lifetime Barbara was the first black US congress woman from the deep south which was a great achievement she made.her interest in leadership as well as her commitment led to her being a representative in the US house of representatives for Texas.Barbara was well known for promoting civil rights for the poor who were mainly affected.
The women in ancient times also as a topic directs us to another great lady Truth sojourner (1797 -1883). Was an American preacher who fought for human rights as well as civil rights.sojourner herself was born as slave in New york. During her life time, Truth Sojourner tried to help stop slavery. The US civil war witnessed her help black union soldiers obtain supplies.This great woman also worked as a conserver for national freedom relief association.
Rosa parks a woman of great courage born in the year 1913 was also another great heart in support of war for promotion of civil rights.Her acts of courage were seen when she was once asked to step down from office just to create room for a white man which she refused.this led to her being fined.
Shirley Anita who was born in Brooklyn in the year 1924 impacted many lives as a teacher thus promoting education.her impact in society was also felt in politics as she served among members of the assembly woman.later had seven terms as one of the members of the congress.her leadership was credited with integrity.
Many people especially in the earlier times discriminated others just because of the color of their skin.this however was not supposed to make some people be prevented from being servants of people. They worked hard just to beat this odd working against them so as to meet their dreams as well as help others get their rights.it can be concluded that the above discussed women really worked towards establishing a better future.
